Course info

On successful completion of this course and on approval of application to Queensland Transport, you will be able to control traffic on a road way using a Stop/Slow bat in accordance with legislative requirements and guidelines set out in the M.U.T.C.D Part 3. Participants may gain employment in the Traffic Management Industry. There are many employers seeking staff for Full-Time and Casual hours to start ASAP. Don't miss this opportunity.

An additional fee of $121.40 is payable to Queensland Transport when you submit your application upon successful completion of your training.  For further information, please go to Queensland Transport.

Course Pre-requisites

Minimum age 18 years
Students must have a held an Australian or foreign drivers licence for a continuous period of 12 months within the last 5 years. (This does NOT include Learners Permit's)
Must not have any criminal convictions in the past 5 years that constitute a disqualifying offence. This does not generally include driving offences (eg. speeding, drink driving, etc).

  •    Educational Psychology
  •    Approved PPE for Traffic Controllers in QLD
  •    Authority to control traffic
  •    Speed limits for controlling traffic
  •    Responsibility for Traffic Controller Ahead signs
  •    Location of traffic control station
  •    Correct procedures for controlling traffic
  •    Communication with the public
  •    Two-way radio communications and protocol
  •    Controlling traffic at night
  •    Reporting offenders
  •    Removing or covering signs when not controlling traffic

Licensing:

Licence Applications are lodged at most Queensland Transport Customer Service Centres. The approximate processing time for licence applications is 3 - 4 weeks due to the time required for criminal history checks although this time may vary in some cases. Applicants are not permitted to work as a Traffic Controller until they receive their Licence.

Traffic Controllers are required to undertake a refresher course every three years in order to maintain their accreditation.
