This course provides a sound broad based training for commercial growers and/or staff of berry farms. It is equally relevant to the enthusiast or hobby grower who wants to get more serious about growing berry fruits.

What will you achieve from this course?

After completing Berry Production you will have knowledge of the different types of berry fruit cultivars, the variety of berry fruit and suitable areas for growing them and the cultural treatment for a range of berry fruits.  You will also have an understanding of how to propagate, harvest and sell berries!

Lessons:

•     Introduction - Review of the system of plant identification, General characteristics of the berries, Information contacts (nurseries, seed, clubs etc.)
•     Which Varieties to Grow
•     Lesser Grown Varieties of Berry Plants
•     Culture – Planting, staking, mulching, watering, pest & disease, feeding, pruning, protection from wind, salt air etc.
•     Propagation - Methods of propagating berries, Propagation of selected varieties
•     Weed Control & Irrigation
•     Harvesting & Marketing Berries
•     Commercial Berry Growing
