Geraniums and Pelargoniums are great collector’s plants with many varieties available. They are a good source of vivid colour, even in winter if a warm situation is provided.  This course is designed to teach you how to successfully grow Geraniums and Pelargoniums, from propagation to greenhouse management, you will know everything you need to know to keep these beautiful flowers healthy and happy in your garden!

What will you achieve from this course?

After completing Geraniums and Pelargoniums you will have the knowledge necessary to select and cultivate appropriate varieties of geraniums and pelargoniums in different situations as well as propagate and use them effectively in your garden.  You will know how to manage various pests and diseases as well as environmental conditions.  You will understand the methods used for irrigation, greenhouse management and more!

Lessons:

•     Introduction - Review of the system of plant identification, Physiology, Information Sources
•     Culture – Planting, Staking, Mulching, Watering Pest & Disease, Feeding, Pruning, etc
•     Propagation
•     Using Geraniums & Pelargoniums – Landscaping, growing in baskets, hydroponics etc.
•     Pest & Disease - Diagnosing problems, Hygiene, Chemical and non chemical control
•     Irrigation - Manual & automatic, Capillary, Disease implications etc.
•     Greenhouse Management – Types of greenhouses, plant needs, temperature control
•     Special Project
•     Research Project - into one major group such as species geraniums or pelargoniums, Regals, Zonals, Ivy Leaf, etc.
