Grevilleas are a wide group of plants, all but seven species coming from Australia. There are around 250 species and half of these are native to the south west corner of Australia. They are striking to look at and also attract birdlife. This course will develop your ability to select and cultivate appropriate varieties of Grevilleas in different situations.
What will you achieve from this course?
After completing Growing Grevilleas, you will have the knowledge necessary to identify a range of different Grevilleas, take care of their cultural requirements, propagate and use them effectively in the garden. You will have an understanding of the identifiable characteristics and cultural preferences of a range of Grevilleas that are commonly cultivated and also have insight into lesser known varieties.
Lessons:
- Introduction - Review of the system of plant identification, general characteristics of Grevilleas, information contacts (ie: nurseries, seed, clubs etc.)
- Culture - Planting, staking, mulching, watering, pest and disease, feeding, pruning, protection from wind, salt air, etc.
- Propagation
- The Most Commonly Grown Varieties
- Other Important Groups
- Other Grevillea Varieties
- Making The Best Use of Grevilleas - In containers, in the ground, growing for profit etc. (to sell the plants) etc.
- Special Assignment - On one selected plant or group
