Be a nut expert! This course is for the curious grower who wants to learn more about types of warm climate nuts. Strictly speaking, not all nuts are edible, but this course is only concerned with those that are. It is designed to give you a detailed look at the identification and culture of warm climate nuts with an emphasis on species that are of horticultural value.
What will you achieve from this course?
After completing Warm Climate Nuts you will have an understanding of plant nutrition, pruning and maintenance techniques, nut tree propagation and sources of organisations specific to nut production. You will also have knowledge of site selection for the successful cultivation of nuts.
Lessons:
- Introduction - Review of the system of plant identification, main groups of nuts, information contacts (i.e. nurseries, seed, clubs etc.)
- Culture - Planting, staking, mulching, pest & disease, feeding, pruning, protection etc
- Propagation - information on propagation in general and on specific species.
