You will learn the key principles and applications of different theoretical approaches to counselling and psychotherapy, including the theories of Freud, Erikson, Adler, Ellis, Rogers, Beck, and others.

After studying Counselling Techniques you will be better able to understand the principles, goals, assessment techniques and appropriate application of the person-centred approach to counselling. You will have an appreciation of the characteristics of contemporary behavioural therapy and understand the concept of dream analysis and the origin of ‘narcissistic’ and ‘borderline’ personality disorders.
